Sounds like you've got the right idea about the Goddess/God.  I think you've got the makings of a fine Pagan.

I too am fairly new to Wicca and, like you, am enjoying the journery.

I agree that the tools can be pricey and I don't have much.  But I feel at the end of the day it's not the tools that make you a Pagan or a Wiccan, it's the way you feel about yourself and how you interact with others and the environment.

Having said that, I can understand why you'd like them.  All I can suggest is surfing the 'Net for websites specializing in new age supplies.  And let's not forget eBay.  I've received some tools as gifts, so maybe you could try throwing some hints around.  I put a wish list on my refrigerator.

Also, there are some things you can create yourself.  A wand, for example, can be obtained from the branch of a tree or bush.  I personally like willow. Always seek permission and thank the spirit of the tree for its gift.

If you practice kitchen witchery, you must know that herbs can play an important part in your rituals.  I use essentials oils in my rituals.   As long as your intentions are pure, lack of 'proper' tools shouldn't be an issue.

Since you feel no malice from this entity, my best advice is to start out gently.  During your ritual, while in sacred space, simply call to him and speak aloud to him.  Explain that he is frightening you and your mother.  Odds are that he is simply trying to get your attention and be noticed and is unaware that you are afraid.

At this point you have two choices.

You can invite him to stay but ask that he no longer try to appear visually to anyone.

Or ....

You can tell him that while this space may have once been home to him, that it is your home now, and that it is time for him to move on into the light.  Tell him that you bear him no malice or ill will and that you only want for him to find peace.

When she did tell me, I told her about my experience that I had a year or so before that. I need to give you an example before I start. You know the white flare you see when you look into a light and then look into a dark room? Well, keep that in mind. It was sometime during the night and I was about to go to bed. I opened my slightly closed door to my dark room and just stopped. For a few moments it looked like there was someone standing in front of my dresser looking down at the top of my tv. It was the shape of a person that looked like it was made of the white flare you see when you just looked into a bright light then at a dark room.

Well, that night, I slept with my light on and my door ajar, two things I never do. At first, I think I thought it was an angel, but I must have changed my mind at some point.

I know that what ever it is, it is male. My mom thinks it might be my grandfather who died of cancer a few years back, but I don't think so. We were never that close to him and I think there are other places his spirit would wander that are more important to him than our hallway. I don't remember him in our house but a few times. I think it is a younger man, somewhere around my age (17).

You have to understand that, for a while, this young man didn't bother me or make me feel scared in any way. My mom even says that she never thought it had any ill intent towards our family. I always thought that it was someone watching over me and my mom caught a glimpse of him, but recently my mom keeps seeing things down the hall and in the bathroom and it is starting to scare her a little. I too find myself sleeping with my light on again because I feel who ever it is standing in my room watching me. I don't feel any ill intent, but I don't feel comfortable with him here anymore.

I think my mom and I are the only ones who have seen him. My dad says he hasn't, but I am not sure he would admit to seeing something he couldn't explain. My younger sister hasn't said anything about him, but she sleeps with the overhead light on in her room every night. She is 13.

Please, if you have any advice on what to do, I would love to hear from you. I plan on doing what ever it is I decide on the 30th of this month. It is a full moon that night and the house will be empty so I can do what I need to do.

I just want to be my old self again. How do you propose a girl like me go about getting her faith back. I want to feel as close to the gods as I once was. I want to get all tingly just thinking about what spell I can cook up. I want to be able to read my cards again. I want to reconnect. I just can't seem to figure out how. I sure hope you answer me. I am below rock bottom. I feel as though I must have done something wrong in my life to have been given this much pain. I honestly don't think anyone would even notice I am gone.

I'd like to get your view on a situation that I have only recently (Thurs, Nov. 11) become aware of.  Perhaps I'm overreacting, but I feel that I maybe followed by a malevolent spirit out to do me harm.  Or at the very least cause me inconvenience.

This thought occurred to me when, for the thrid time in as many months, I received a nasty cut from a cardboard box I was in starting to break up.  Now in my line of work, scratches and cuts come with the territory.  However the cut I received yesterday shouldn't have occurred at all since I had not applied any pressure to the sharp edge.  It felt as if the box's edge was pressed into my finger rather than the other way around.  The cut bled a far bit and the cut is deep and painful.

Looking back on the last two times I received cut like this, it seems to me that they shouldn't have happened either.  The only common thread seems to be that these events occurred when I was either in a particularly happy mood.  Before this latest episode, I was concerned that the Thanksgiving week I had requested time off for might not be granted due to the ex-manager 'misplacing' the vacation request book with all the request forms.  Even the yearly wall planner that had requested leave dates written on it had gone 'missing' as well.  I spoke to the new manager and he assured me that my request would be honoured.  I returned to my work in a much better mood and that's when I got hurt.  It was then that I began to wonder if someone had it in for me.

When I returned home I phoned my husband and told him what happened and what I suspected.  (I don't think he really understands about my beliefs.  All he knows is that it's important to me and that's enough for him.)  Afterwards, I quickly set up my altar adding an amethyst crystal to my other items.  I asked the Goddess to intervene on my behalf and to protect me and my family from harm.  Later that afternoon, my husband came home and told me that after we had spoken, the clutch went on his work van.  Luckily, he said, there was a vehicle recovery truck just behind him and the driver towed the van back to my husband's work.  This happened just around the time I was pleading my case to the Goddess.  I took this to mean my prayers had been heard.  I now keep that crystal close to hand.

I should mention that the manager of this store and I have never gotten along.  From the moment we met we just to seemed to rub each other the wrong way and it's been going down hill for the last seven years.  He is a moody, sarcastic and ill-mannered bully and while most of the staff would toady to him, I refused to cater to his whims.  He was transferred out two weeks ago against his will.  He hadn't, shall we say, been playing by the rules and The Powers That Be felt it was a time for a change.  I've been doing the Snoopy Dance since.

I seriously doubt he has the intelligence to conjure up an evil being to do his bidding.  But is it possible that all his ill will and all the grief he's caused several staff members over the years have managed to accumulate within the workplace and is now targeted at me?

Well, that and puppy sitting so that our overly protective Cairn Terrier didn't bust a blood vessel because of all the visitors!  My Service Dog was very well behaved for her first Halloween -- hardly even reacted to the doorbell.

It was a very fulfilling day.

I was in our kitchen, getting some water from the sink when I happened to hear a helicopter overhead. Not uncommon as we lived a few blocks from a military base. A searchlight was also seen in our back yard. The strange thing was though, that only I heard the noise of the helicopter, only I saw the searchlight even though both my mom and Kufury looked outside in the backyard.

A few blocks away, my friend S was reading a book and started to smell something burning. She checked her house and there was nothing burning there. She heard screams - they sounded like they were coming from in the house. Just in case, since her neighbors' houses were pretty close to hers, she went outside. While outside she smelled the burning, but no longer heard the screams. Now she heard sirens and a helicopter - and saw a searchlight in her back yard.

Her neighbors were out having an evening chat in the driveway - and heard and saw nothing! S saw the searchlight and heard, but did not see, the helicopter. The light only went into S' back yard, not the neighbors. The searchlight from my back yard only went in my yard, not my neighbors.

Both yards had leaves on the ground that looked as though they were crawling across the yard to get away from the searchlights - and all of this happened at the exact same time on the exact same night.

Come to find out that although we had known S' house was not the original house on her property and that the original house had burned down - we had not known that the family, all except the father, had been in the house when it burned, and we had also not known that the fire had been arson. We found that out when we did some research at the library and found the newspaper articles about it!

Now we wonder if perhaps the spirits were trying to tell us what happened the night they died? Or perhaps they were reliving the horrible night they passed on.
