A very thought provoking question.

Yes, most pagans would be accepting of most religions being just another path to the same end … in the spirit of “all the gods are one god.”  That being said, depending on the particular tradition that the group you attended adhered to there can be some strict views on particular beliefs and practices.

I.e. only a witch can make a witch, women must be initiated by males, that their path is “true” and others are less valid, etc.

That group didn't work out for you …. it happens.  There are other groups that may, and yes it is a risk to trust and be vulnerable but, having been in a group in the past that was very good for the first few years I was with them, it can be well worth it.
