I am grateful today for my friend M2 who woke up at the crack of dawn yesterday to pick me up and take me to Lady Rose’s house for my birthday outing. I am grateful that she was there, even though herbs (and the outdoors in general) are not her perferred form of recreation activity. It made the day extra special to have her there. It would not have been the same without her suport and friendship, her laughter and love.
I am grateful today for Lady Rose who planned and plotted for months to give me a birthday that I will remember always. For finding a spot to celebrate in (Well Sweep Farm) which was beautiful to the eyes, and restful to the spirit and let me live vicariously for a few hours imagining that the lovely grounds that surrounded me were the home I dream of living in one day. For filling a table with food to eat and presents to open (more on these later). For her announcing to anyone who would stand still long enough that it was my birthday, that we were there to celebrate my turning 40 and encouraging so many strangers to wish me the blessing of a Happy Birthday and for one woman to tell me in no uncertain terms that I am looking quite young for my new “middle-aged” status. For her creating a situation in which I was the center of attention in a non-threatening manner and making me feel very very special and so so loved.
I am grateful today for Gamer Dude, my hubby and best friend, who tried to plan a surprise birthday party for me upon my return. Nothing turned out the way he hoped, but I love him for trying to add a glorious finish to a wonderful day. Perhaps his expectation that I would be home “early” was unrealistic … and he could not have known going in that everyone he invited (save for one) would back out last minute on him (I’m not quite sure how I feel about that one yet) but, his heart was in the right place in that he knew I would suspect nothing and wanted me to come home and be surrounded by people I loved, who loved me back, and (as he put it) estrogen out.
I am grateful today for my friend “E” who drove 4 hours from out of state to attend my birthday celebration, even after circumstances changes forcing her to have to lave my home before 7am this morning. Our time together was brief but enjoyable. I love her more than I can say and hope that the circumstances that led to her early return home go smoothly and well and give her some type of resolution if nothing else.
I am grateful today for gifts that will add something truly special to a planned simultaneous ritual later this evening. I am greateful for the friends, all newly reaquainted with via facebook, that I will be “joining” for this event. I truly can’t wait to share more about all of new treasures with you all … Lady Rose truly outdid herself!!
I am simply grateful today to know that so many people love me.
Blessings
Mama Kelly

Many happy returns of the Day! And they are quite right to say that you are still so fair and pretty!
Sorry about the party — it is extraordinary how many times I have heard about such an outcome and sad no-shows for parties!! Especially sad in this day and age of instant communications! Hope to hear and read more about your Day and the outcome of your daughter’s dance too!
Best wishes always,
Jan at Rosemary Cottage
