Today I am grateful for being able to reconnect with so many friends of late.  Some of these reunions have so far been online only, but this past Thursday I was blessed enough to meet up with our friends JD* and her brother DJ who have been absent from our lives for far too long.

However, most of all today I am grateful for being a mother.

I am grateful for Miss Artistic’s surprise conception which, while earlier than we would’ve planned, allowed my mother to be able to enjoy being a grandmother before she wound up being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1996 and eventually dying in 1997.

I am grateful for Princess Nibbles who we were able to conceive in spite of severe endometriosis, adhesions, and a previous miscarriage and who survived a placental abruption and premature birth with no lasting effects of either.

I am grateful for all the beauty and brilliance and talent that I see in each of them and I can only hope that I am blessed enough to see them become mothers themselves (if they so choose) one day.
