For friends who will drive long distances to come and spend time with me and my family — for Lady Rose who drives an hour each way every month or 2 …. for “E” who drives 4 hours each way when she has a free weekend a couple of times a year … for “M” who drives 4 hours each way to spend a free weekend once or twice a year.

For the grace of my husband not being more seriously injured in the accident that put him on permanent disability about 5 years ago.

For my husband doing laundry and sweeping/mopping my kitchen floor while I was at work one day this week.

For two daughters, who I was lucky enough to conceive and carry in spite of severe endometriosis, infertility issues, placental abruption, and miscarriage.

For snow that finally iced the trees on Monday morning and made the world look, albiet only briefly, like something out of a fairytale.

For the knowledge that even in the coldest winter and darkest night that that Spring and sun and warmth will always come again.
