I just love 3-day weekends, wish we had more of them – I have tons of stuff to get done.
I have gone to two different dollar stores and picked up some things for the Harry Potter party — very cool jars for the candy display and various candy to fill them (i.e. lemon heads that I will label canary creams). Tablecloths in house colors (except neither store had a green one), bags of rubbery rats, bats, bugs (for jars in potion display).
More packages arrived though one delivery was completely wrong!!!! I had ordered from a store online that only sells in bulk two different kinds of Harry Potter science kits — so I had to buy 48 of each (I only need 24). One kit has not arrived, but the other kit that did is the wrong one — I ordered and need for specific classes the astronomy kit (make a telescope) and the one to make a mobile – instead I got 48 tracking kits (but I don’t want or need these). It is going to be a hassle to return these two HUGE boxes as well as deal with the company — I have a feeling they may say they can’t guarantee a specific kit and I may just have to loose the money I spent. And who knows what the other kits will be and if or when they will arrive. I am trying not to fret too much though — I’ll try calling tomorrow but not sure if they are open on the holiday.
I still need to find a few things — special round seals I had made for the invitation (with a caligraphy H and Hogwarts title and motto around the outsited) — they came a couple months ago and who knows where that envelope is now. A big box of stuff I had from over 5 years ago of various Potter stuff I collected — but we moved and who knows where that box is now – I know it arrived here because I did unpack a few things from it for my curio cabinet. Plus I had about 3 or 4 HP posters I had gotten as a gift about 5 years ago — but I don’t even know if they were moved here or left behind (a LOT of stuff got lost and left behind in our move).
With only 132 more days before the party, at times I can feel the stress building. I am so thankful I am not having the party here at the house, there is NO where to move as it is. So just trying to get things set up and sorted for the party is difficult, if I had to actually have the party here I think I would just have a nervous breakdown.
I did manage to get my xmas tree undecorated. There is NO room for the tree or boxes of decorations to be put any where though – not sure where they were before Xmas. Any way I told hubby I want to just pile ALL xmas boxes in one spot in our tv room, so I can start clearing out some space in the garage to reach other boxes so I can look for the Harry Potter stuff. My garage is floor to ceiling boxes on top of more boxes – it’s a nightmare – I can barely move out there, and when ever I have to go out there my stress level goes through the roof.
But overall I think the planning is going well and the preparations, though slow, are coming along too.
I just wish I had been able to use this three day weekend better – hubby had to work yesterday so couldn’t help me move the heavy stuff, and today he went to visit a friend to give them their xmas gift (tickets for a concert). Then he wants to go out to dinner UGH!!!! I HATE HATE HATE HATE going out to eat – all I can have is salad any way, but I have to sit and smile through it while I smell all the wonderful buffet items. At the rate I am loosing weight (about 1 to 2 pounds a month) I will be on a diet for over 5 more years – during that time I don’t ever want to travel or dine out – but since hubby likes to do both I am doomed smiling while I starve and pretending to enjoy myself.
I think going out to eat tonight has me stressed a lot today too.
Oh well, such is life.
I made a promise to try and focus on the positive this year — so no more ranting — time to get back to trying to make some sense out of all these BOXES !!!!
