Well I spent much of the weekend working, or at least it felt like it. I went in on Friday and worked a normal day. It was a particularly hard day on the phones and the day seemed to just drag on forever. I went back in on Saturday and put 4.5 hours in on the commission-based project and made $100. I went in on Sunday, expecting to be able to make up all of the hours lost on Thanksgiving itself (by working until 8pm) and wound up with the shift ending at 5:30 as it had been over-staffed. So, while I made $100 “extra” on Saturday I wound up losing 2.5 hours pay over all for the holiday week and so I am not as ahead as a should be. I also finished my take home final (due Thursday) for my education class.
Miss Artistic got moodier and moodier as the weekend went on, in spite of being allowed a trip to the Mall Friday night with her girlfriends and a afternoon over another friend’s house on Saturday. I’d blame PMS, except the timing is wrong. I think its just a matter of her being pissed that I am working all the time combined with her annoyance at my own irritability. Add a splash of guilt over not keeping up with schoolwork and disappointment over grades that she wishes had been better on her report card and I guess I’d be grumpy too.
I do not mean to be irritable. But working 7 days a week at a hateful job combined with the stress of financially and physically getting ready for the holidays along with my own pain and fatigue issues it is pretty hard to be cheerful.
Princess Nibbles has had an on & off headache for a few days now. She is otherwise happy and content and with the particularly wet weather we’ve been having I’m laying the blame on allergies and sinus issues.
Game Due it having a nasty pain spike as a result of a little extra activity related to holiday prep and cleanup as well as the aforementioned wet weather. He is grumpy and irritable himself as a result.
Needless to say we are not a cheery bunch right now.
In other news I picked up a few unique items for my girls via etsy last night and hit the amazon.com website a couple of times a day watching for saved items in my shopping cart to go down in price. For example today I snagged a 72 count of Prismacolor Pencils for Miss Artistic for less than $50 (for Mr Grumpy aka the PopPop to give her *) and Harry Potter Clue
for Princess Nibbles.
I am slowly getting what I need to put under our Yule tree. Soon I have to write up an itemized list of what I have for who so I can see how close I am to being done. My target is to be done with everything – shopping, wrapping and cards by 12/18 as my friend “E” is coming up to spend the solstice weekend with us.
Well, I am off to work. The plan is to stay late for my commission-based project and get home around 7:30. WIth luck I’ll be alert enough to spend an hour or so working on my presentation for class that is due on Thursday.

* I do most of my Dad’s shopping for the girls. He is overwhelmed by the sheer size of the toy stores nowadays and really has no idea what they want or need. So I get his credit card, his budget, and the knowledge that he prefers to give a few largver ticket items than a pile of cheaper stuff.

I hear you on the pain, being tired, and in part, having a job that really could be better.
::sending warm healing thoughts::
And bright lady, I have barely begun thinking of Yule shopping; thank you for the reminder/gentle push
