I have been having some good luck selling books on Amazon.com and through this blog. Granted I wish I was selling everything I wanted to. I could use the money and the space. But, I am grateful for every extra little bit I am able to make, especially during a week like this one where I am too ill to work all my hours.
But, I am still left with an awful lot of clutter to purge out of my life. With that in mind I joined a local Freecycle group. Now, I will admit upfront that I am hoping that some of the things that are on my wish list (think food dehydrator, canning supplies, etc) may come my way using this vehicle. But, I am also determined to finally let go of some things as well. Like one Kasey the Kinderbot that has been living in a closet for far too long. I could probably sell him – and perhaps whomever I give it to on Freecycle will wind up doing just that – but I’d rather take the chance that he’ll wind up with a kid who will love him to pieces and learn while he plays.
Books I cannot sell I will probably offer some of them (the ones I feel will hold someone’s interest) up on Freecycle before I unload a bunch on the library and get a little deduction on my 2009 taxes. I have some electronic toys that the children have outgrown that I can either sell or give away as well. Hubby is hope full time so it is easy for us to be a part of the Freecycle movement.
Yesterday I hit the hutch portion of our bedroom dresser. I dumped out a lot of over 5 year old half full bottles of perfume that I never even liked to wear originally. Today the plan is to mail out 6 book orders (yay!), sort some clothing (putting together a bag for a friend’s 5 year old daughter), and hit the clearance racks at Fashion Bug with $60 worth of gift cards (thank you “Aunt G”) and coupons as my 14 year old is in desperate need of some new things.
Of course I also have to cook for the week ahead and do homework before the day is done but right now I’m sipping coffee hubby made for me and waiting for some Advil to kick in.
May you all have a blessed day!

PS Miss Artistic tried out for the Spring musical yesterday (this is huge for her as she’s always been too self-conscious to even consider it) so keep your fingers crossed. Being involved in the play will mean a lot of running around, time and energy we don’t necessarily have but ….. seeing her shining with happiness is worth it!

I don’t know if you know about it already, but Paperback Swap is a great way to get rid of old books you don’t want anymore, and get some new ones you do want (not just paperbacks). You can make a wish list and when someone lists the book you want they tell you. I love it

Hi– for books, think about looking into joinining paperbackswap.com — this is how my better half recycles her textbooks, and I recycle books I no longer want to keep, and the selection of books you trade is HUGE and varied for almost any taste imaginable!

We de-cluttered our closets this week. Took far longer than expected and ended up giving 6 bags away to charity. The house feels so much lighter now!

I’m going to have to look into paperback swap before I donate anything. It sounds like a great way to fill my wish list without having to pay anything out of pocket (other than shipping). Thank you so much to both of you for the tip.

It really does change the energy of a room/home to do some decluttering work. While I wasn’t pleased at the time to have to do it I am so glad to have it done!!
Blessings
