Yes I know my blogging has been a little quieter of late. No, I haven’t fallen into a hole I’ve fallen into a funk. Work has been stressful, raising a teenager has been even more so. I have been feeling sad, hopeless, and frankly depleted.
I have many things stirring around in my mind that I want to post about but the words simply aren’t flowing. This has also carried over into other areas of my life as I have so far been unable to start a paper I need to write by Monday (though if I was late with it it would probably be okay as everyone else seems to not care about due dates) and I have fallen off the bandwagon in terms of my 37 day challenge.
I read along as some of you debated about the ethics of hexing in spellwork and then read a post by Hecate which truly spoke to me.
Her post brought up many things for me, including my own hesitancy when it comes to doing spellwork of any consequence. Fears of unforeseen outcomes and frankly a need to avoid being whacked by the karma stick have frozen me in my shoes. I have been paralyzed.
But Hecate makes an excellent point. That if there is a specific outcome that I am willing to do mundane work to achieve there should be no reason why I should hesitate to do the appropriate magic to assist me in my attempt. In her own words:
Look, it’s just magic. It’s no more, and no less, likely to affect you than anything else you do.
So perhaps the time has come to stop fearing repercussions, to stop worrying about cosmic 2×4′s, and to realize that if my goal is in line with my personal ethics than I should be willing to take steps (magical and mundane both) to get there. Perhaps the solution to feeling paralyzed is to simply get up off my ass and do something constructive. Or at least do something.
I hope to be back to your regularly scheduled programming soon.
Blessings
