wise words, indeed. May I offer something else? My life, for far too long, was nothing if not tumultuous, chaotic, & miserable. My dad & I didn't have a great relationship, but one thing he told several years ago turned out to be the most important words he ever said to me. He told me: we all have things in our lives that are painful, or that we dislike. Some things we can control, some we can't. But the way I see it, if there is something in your life that makes you crazy, you have these options: 1)Decide you don't like/want this & get rid of it! Change it! Do whatever you have to do to get it out of your life. 2) Realize there is nothing you can do about it, & learn to live with it. Find a way to deal with it. 3) Do nothing and continue to be miserable. If this is your choice, stop whining unless you're serving cheese, too.

Great advice- helped me put things in perspective! One more piece of advice he gave me: When life craps on your head - and it will- be it a lost job or lost love or whatever, you've got 3 days to mourn. Then get up, blow your nose, wash your face, pull your boots on & get on with your life. Everyone else has been gettin on with theirs & no one wants to be left behind.

It took me 40 years to get my life together. It was HARD! But I did it, and you can too. Oh, I'm still poor, & goddess knows I hate my job, etc...but it's ok. I'm HAPPY. I LIKE my life. I sincerely hope someday you like yours, too. Just don't give up! If you really want another job, even in this economy, you'll find one. You will find a way to deal with your young one, (and don't stop encouraging the youngest!)
Bright Blessings!

I wouldn't be able to say it in better words, Mama. Your posts are always a gift to me.

My mom has this Reinhold Niebuhr's quote on the wall, just beautiful too.

Kisses from us.
