Recently Released Books on Wicca and Paganism

Category: Reading & Writings, Wicca & Paganism | Written by Mama Kelly

I’d like to report that my depression and anxiety issues are better.  Actually, they are worse.  If it wasn’t for posts that I had written ahead this blog would be quite lacking in content of late.  I sit down to write and find I have nothing to say.

While I strive to find my way above water again please  enjoy perusing this list of books published in the past month (or so) and know that eventually I’ll find my voice again.

I understand the ocean that you currently find yourself slipping beneath. I have bobbed in those inky depths more times than I care to admit. Remember that it gets better… eventually. Take the time that you need; let me know if I can help.

    Dearest Mama Kelly

Depression and anxiety certainly are a challenge; I deal with the nasty buggers myself and I am not ashamed to say I use modern Western medicine. If I could vanquish my symptoms any other way (i.e., solely through diet, exercise, herbal remedies, meditation, etc.), I would, and I still employ these natural methods; they simply are not, alone or in and of themselves, enough. So, please, if you have not already, consider discussing your symptoms with your physician; there is no need for you to suffer and there are many choices available today that have minimal side effects.

My beloved grandmother suffered depression for six years after her stroke before she relented (“everyone get’s the blues,” she’d say to put me off). When her depression provided her niece the opportunity to pack her off to a nursing home and sell all her belongings (unknown to the rest of the family), part of the deal I made to get her out and back home was to treat her depression, the effects of which amazed her. She’s now 86 and still living in her fully re-furbished home in very high spirits and off her anti-depressants.

May the Goddess guide you to find the perfect path for you, as the Goddess is always there to help us with these burdens and she is waiting for you to lay this at her feet. So be of better cheer, Mama Kelly, for I know an answer will soon be within your reach.

    Faerie hugz,

    Kat

Thank you both for your kind words. It is a matter of stubbornness as well as a strong dislike of the more affordable antidepressants out there (can’t afford $50 a month for the “newer” ones). Usually I pull myself out of these dark periods after a couple of months …

If things don’t get better soon I will have to just suck it up and go to my Dr. He will put me back on meds with few questions asked.

I thank you for the love and support and wish you both the very best.

    Merry greet!

Sorry to hear the depression and anxiety are worsening. Do you think that, as the light diminishes, one of those full-spectrum lights might help? I have one in my office, and I think it makes a difference for me.

I wanted to thank you for listing two of my new books on your blog. The Portable Spell Book is my first not-Wicca book; but it does emphasize ethics, and is certainly based on my Wiccan understanding of the way magic works.

Enchantment Encumbered is still being corrected now and again, so if any readers see typos, please let me know!

    Bright blessings,
    Ashleen
